OSKAR W. RUG
Born in Hetzbach in the Odenwald region in Germany, Oskars enthusiasm for drawing and painting dates back to his early childhood days. Many journeys across Europe, Africa and America, along with innumerable exhibition and museum visits gradually nurtured his desire to become an artist. The first artistic manifestation of the impressions and experiences that Oskar gained during this early phase was a series entitled The Pictures Before.
Subsequent creative series and cycles have been substantial and multi-faceted in nature, and culminated in The Pictures Behind, a defining series of works. The Pictures Behind are the fruit of a crucial phase in Oskars uvre, profoundly inspired by a first journey to Prague and an extensive preoccupation with the works of Franz Kafka.
